Test trains to Mernda by September

The great news for locals of this region is that City of Whittlesea have announced that test trains will be running to Mernda within the next 3 months.

Construction of the new train line extending South Morang to Mernda started in April 2017. According to council, they are actually ahead of schedule, sighting “good weather, smart design decisions and a hard-working team” as the contributing factors.

As well as testing the new line, the test trains will also form part of a train driver training program, in preparation for the line being open for business.
