Setting Goals for a Positive 2021

It’s safe to say we’re on the back end of a year that didn’t quite go as planned. Most of the outcomes of 2020 were completely beyond our control. Any goals we had in place at the start of the year suddenly looked incredibly unachievable as our day-to-day work and home realities changed dramatically.

Challenging times bring out the best in people though, and this year showed us how resilient Australians are. We took it in our stride, adapted and did what needed to be done. Now it looks like there can only be bright days ahead.

We’re very excited for a positive 2021, and we hope everyone around the country is too. As we look at what we want to achieve in it and think about goals, it’s important to remember that one thing we can always control is our mindset and our attitude. How we choose to approach challenges determines how we get through them, so placing a strong focus on being positive throughout 2021 will stand you in good stead for success.

The Importance of Positivity

Positivity breeds resilience. The better your outlook on life, the more likely you are to overcome hardships. You’re looking for ways to benefit from situations the whole time, seeking the good in everything around you. You’re empowered to not give up so your resilience to whatever life throws at you increases dramatically.

Positivity improves your health. Optimistic people have better health outcomes, as has been proved by a number of studies. Immunity is higher and daily health is improved, so you’re less likely to succumb to infections or bugs. Plus, positive people recover from surgery and health setbacks much faster than negative people.

Positivity improves your relationships. Positive people give off good vibes, and we’re all attracted to good vibes. If you have an optimistic energy about you, your relationships with your friends and family will only get better. It’s also important in business terms, because potential clients or partners or employers will want to associate with your positivity.

How to be More Positive in 2021

Being positive doesn’t mean ignoring the negative as if it doesn’t exist. You need to acknowledge it, understand it and adapt to it. That’s how you grow in resilience.

Also, positivity is contagious, both within yourself and to others. The more you focus on the good around you, the more goodness you notice. It’s like a snowball of optimism. And the more your positivity is on display, the more it’ll rub off on those around you. Before you know it, it spreads through your network, workplace and community. Now that’s one virus we don’t mind!
